Howdy folks! Long time no hear, eh? Been focused on the home front
-
got the flagstone finished, now sealing the cedar fence ... and it's time
to gear up for the ski season!
Got a few gigs this week, all over the place. TONIGHT:
Weds., Nov 19, 7 p.m.
ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY (Denver, 16th St. Mall @ Curtis, 303-534-7616)
Come check out CONFLUENCE PARK ... this is the first time the core trio
of myself, drummer Dan Egger-Belandria and bassist Dwight Thompson has
played together since the last time we were at this room - should be a
gas!
Fri., Nov. 21, 7 p.m.
CARDELLA'S ITALIAN STEAKHOUSE (Aurora, NW corner Buckley & Quincy,
303-690-5220)
This will probably be my last appearance here for a while - the owner
is cutting back on the entertainment budget and he can't afford me anymore!
I
told him I'd still be willing to do last-minute fill-in dates if I'm available,
so we'll stay in touch.
Sat., Nov. 22, 3-6 p.m.
THE DERAILER BAR (Winter Park Ski Resort, main base bldg.,
970-726-1438)
Woo-hoo! The white stuff's flyin' and I'm really looking forward to getting
back in front of an apres ski crowd! Please stop by if you're in the area
...
Next week, I'm going to London! This will be my first trip across the
big pond and I'm really psyched! When I get back in December, there are
dates scheduled for Holiday parties, the Ritz-Carlton in Beaver Creek,
a
return to Greenfield's in Lakewood ... etc!
Drop me an e-mail if you might be interested in hiring me or the band
for your Holiday functions!
Hope you all have a geat week & Thanksgiving holiday - Ciao, baby!
Jim
10/30/03
Happy Halloween everyone!
Seems like all I've been doing lately is manual labor! My race to
complete the flagstone walkway on the north side of the house before the
weather
turned to crap ended today with a loss. I've only got about 30 sq. ft
(out
of 175) left to set, but with the dampness in the air the sand just got
REALLY heavy. Not to mention the sheen of ice ...
Had a great gig last week up in Longmont at the Left Hand Tap House.
Looking forward to return engagement in the New Year. This week, there's
more good beer and music on tap:
Saturday, Nov. 1st, 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.
IRONWORKS BREWERY & PUB (12354 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood,
303-958-5818)
Band gig! Marcus & Dwight & I are joined by flautist Roxanne Staples
in this really fun room ... hope you can make it out.
Have a great week - ciao, baby!
10/7/03
Howdy folks! Long time no hear, eh? It's been a pretty hectic time:
had a wonderful road trip across the Midwest in September with terrific
shows in Omaha and outside of Chicago. Mary & Tom at McFoster's in
Omaha are
always gracious hosts and the food is STILL wonderful! Tom at O'Traina's
in
Wauconda, IL continues to book me for my annual trip even though he's
no
longer doing live music in the bar. Big thanks to him and to all of my
old
& golden friends & family who came out to that show.
I was home for a week - gigs at Cardella's in Aurora and a private function
down at the Broadmoor before leaving for 3 nights in Vegas, 1 night
home, and another road trip to Moab, UT, where I had a return engagement
at
the Poplar Place. Hosts Jody & Cindy took me in and did another bang-up
job promoting the show. Will look forward to coming back in the spring!
We're into the autumn slowdown now, but there are still opportunities
to catch some live music. This week, you've got two chances to hear the
band:
Weds., Oct 8, 7 p.m.
ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY (Denver, 16th St. Mall @ Curtis, 303-534-7616)
Come check out CONFLUENCE PARK ... this is the first time the core trio
of myself, drummer Dan Egger-Belandria and bassist Dwight Thompson has
played together in awhile - should be a gas!
Sat., Oct. 11, 2 - 6 p.m.
SEDALIA GRILL ((Sedalia, 5607 US Hwy 85, 303-688-1249)
Drummer Marcus Reddick is filling in for Dan on this one - an afternoon
gig! Come & party on the patio (or indoors if the weather doesn't
cooperate)!
Next week, I make a solo appearance at The West Woods Restaurant in
Arvada on Friday (Oct.17, 6-9 pm), and then the band returns to The Kilt
in
Littleton on Saturday (Oct. 18, 9 pm). Stay tuned for irons in the
fire ...
Speaking of irons in the fire - it's not to early to start thinking
about your Holiday functions. Drop me an e-mail if you might be interested
in hiring me or the band for your parties!
Hope you all have a geat week - Ciao, baby!
9/04/03
Howdy folks!
Sorry the communication's been so spotty lately. I'VE been spotty
lately - not to mention my internet service or my calendar or my golf
game. Had
my parents in town from Chicago all last week - nice visit, but it sort
of
forced a mini-vacation on me and I got behind on all sorts of "work".
At least my shoulder seems to be healing & getting stronger - in other
words, at least I've got my health!
Life in the boonies of north Golden/west Arvada: poor TV cable, no
DSL/broadband ... neighbor puts in T1 line, we put another antenna on
our roof. Get hooked on hi-speed access like smoke and needles and then
service goes down and withdrawal sets in. Dial-up ... phone lines ...
waiting
...
Scooters cancelled me at the last minute on Friday and I still haven't
heard from Steve at Ventura regarding my schedule there. If anyone else
has,
please let me know!
Never mind all that. Here's the point:
Friday, Sept. 5, 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.
IRONWORKS BREWERY & PUB (12354 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood,
303-958-5818)
Solo gig! Requests! Great beer! Pool tables!
This is a really fun room ... hope you can make it out.
I'm travelling for a couple of weeks after that - gigs in OMAHA and
outside CHICAGO for my annual Sept. drive across the Midwest to the roots.
I'm
back for a week and a gig at CARDELLA's in Aurora (Fri., Sept. 26th) and
a
private function at the BROADMOOR on Sat., then leave for another week:
Las Vegas for a few days and then gigs in MOAB, UT (Oct. 2-3). I'm in
town
most of October, with gigs throughout the metro Denver area and a bunch
of
dates scheduled with the band, including return engagements to the Rock
Bottom Brewery (Oct. 8), the Sedalia Grill (Oct. 11), the Kilt (Oct. 18)
and
Ironworks (Nov. 1). Plus solo dates I'll tell ya' about later - or check
the website, hope to get an update done in the next few days before I
leave!
Have a great week - ciao, baby!
8/20/03
Hey everybody! If you haven't noticed, I haven't sent out an e-mail
in
a couple of weeks, because I've been performing private functions AND
I've NOT been at the Ventura Grille.
If you saw me at Ventura or were planning on coming sometime soon, give
them a call to find out when I'll be back 720-482-9744.
This week:
SATURDAY, Aug 23, 9:00 p.m.
PUB ON PEARL (Denver, Pearl St. just N of I-25, 303-777-6768)
Always a good time! This is a great little neighborhood pub and I've
had wonderful audiences here.
Next week, I've got a busy week in addition to having my parents in
town, visiting from Chicago. Thurs. (28th) I make my debut at the Horny
Toad
Lounge (8 p.m., Littleton, 303-795-6877). It's an all-Aurora weekend!
Fri. (29th) I'm back at Scooter's for Happy Hour (just W. of 225, just
S. of
Alameda, 303-366-0019), and then Sat. (30th) I play Cardella's (Buckley
& Chambers, 303-690-5220).
Just in case - I'm busy! - I should mention, the week following I'm
back at Ironworks solo on Friday Sept. 5th, 9 pm start. And then I leave
on my
Midwest mini-tour!
08/06/03
Howdy everybody! Last-minute schedule update, but better late than
never,
right? That's what Grandma always said, anyway ...
TONIGHT!
Weds., Aug 6, 6-10 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (Greenwood Vill., in Orchards Shopping Center @ Holly &
Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Doing that "background music for your dining experience" thing.
Or,
you can
come in for a laid-back round of drinks in the bar. We kick it up a
bit
after 9 pm ...
Friday, Aug. 8, 5-8 p.m.
Scooter's (Aurora, 1 block S. of Alameda, 1 block west of I-225,
303-366-0019)
I'm out on the deck for Happy Hour - would be great if you could join
us!
Had a fun time when I was there on couple of weeks ago.
Sun., June 29, 7:00 pm, Greenfield's (Lakewood, 303-989-9820)
(in strip mall west of Wadsworth, south of Girton, just north of
Hampden/285)
Requests from the audience - aw heck, an AUDIENCE period - help the
gigs
here go by ... of course, the bartenders and wait staff are fun &
friendly
and that helps, too. It's great place to shoot pool!
Please send me "good luck golfing" vibes, I've got my league
championships
this weekend Sat & Sun. No gig on Saturday night (the 9th) due to
a
scheduling mixup. Bad for the pocketbook but hopefully good for my
golf
game Sunday morning!
Next week I anticipate that my regular Weds. VENTURA GRILLE gig will
be
rescheduled - stay tuned for more info. I have another "?" on
Friday
the
15th - will let you know. Sat. the 16th I have a private function at
Lakewood Country Club.
Stay cool - ciao, baby!
07/31/03
Howdy folks! Been slackin' a bit on the e-mail updates - sorry - added
whammy of spotty Internet access via my neighborhood wireless T1 line.
Today Hotmail is updating their site so I can't maneuver (heavy sigh).
Remember you can always check my website if you haven't heard from me!
Last-minute (like, tomorrow, dude!):
Fri-Sat., Aug. 1-2, 7:00 - 10:30 p.m.
CARDELLA'S ITALIAN STEAKHOUSE (Aurora, NW corner of Buckley & Quincy,
303-690-5220) Return engagement! GREAT Italian food, friendly service,
nice listening room.
Next week, I'm back at my usual Weds.:
Weds., Aug 16, 6-10 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (Greenwood Vill., in Orchards Shopping Center @ Holly &
Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Doing that "background music for your dining experience" thing.
Or, you can
come in for a laid-back round of drinks in the bar. We kick it up a bit
after 9 pm ...
Friday (Aug. 8) I'm out on the deck at Scooter's for Happy Hour (5-8
p.m.,
Aurora, 303-366-0019, 1 block S. of Alameda, 1 block west of 225), Saturday
is currently a "?" (ah, show biz!), and Sunday eve. (Aug. 10th)
I'm
down at Greenfield's in Lakewood.
07/11/03
Howdy folks - last-minute e-mail to let you know that the band is
playing Saturday (tomorrow!) at:
THE KILT (formerly the C-Note, formerly the Kilt & Candle)
(Littleton, in shopping center @ SE corner of Bowles & Platte Canyon
Rd.
303-734-1885) We start at 9 pm - hope you can make it out!
Next week, I have 2 nights (Weds-Thurs, 16th & 17th) at the Ventura
Grille, and then Sat. eve. (19th) I have a private engagement at the Lakewood
Country Club.
06/25/03
Howdy folks! Anyone else go to see John Hiatt & Leo Kottke at the
Pavilion last night? What a fun show! But I have to ask - whatever happened
to
people dancing at concerts? OK, there WAS alot of grey hair in the
audience, but STILL ...
Hope to see some of your smiling faces out at my shows this week:
Weds., June 25, 6-10 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (Greenwood Vlg., Orchards Shopping Center, SE corner of
Holly & Orchard)
720-482-9744
Had a REALLY good night here last week - let's make it 2 in a row!
Sun., June 29, 7:00 pm, Greenfield's (Lakewood, 303-989-9820)
(in strip mall west of Wadsworth, south of Girton, just north of Hampden/285)
Requests from the audience - aw heck, an AUDIENCE period - help the
gigs here go by ... great place to shoot pool!
Next week I'm out of town for most of the week - but back in time for
the Annual Local's Appreciation Picnic up at Beano's Cabin in Beaver Creek
with Mac McCain, Roy Bloomfield, and Bill Mullen. It's gotta be 10 or
11
years now ... ALWAYS a great time up on the mountain and everyone is welcome
- bring the kids and the dog and celebrate freedom with the Beano's
posse. Call Vail/Beaver Creek main reservations to save a plate - or try
the
restaurant directly @ 970-845-5770. Mark your calendar's for July 12,
when the band Confluence Park returns to The Kilt in Littleton (formerly
the
C-Note ... formerly the Kilt & Candle).
6/17/03
Howdy folks!
Last week was a BEAR! Can't complain about having work or playing golf
or drinking beer, but too much of a good thing can be painful! The gigs
were alot of fun: mellow night on Weds. at the Ventura Grille with some
really nice folks making requests and hangin' with me in the bar; then
on
Thurs., an ALL DAY gig up at Chief Hosa Lodge for busloads of Qwest folks
on
their way from the airport up to Vail. I got some great help from Eric
Lane
(http://www.ericlane.com) to break up the 7 hours - always good to hear
him play! Friday night I watched the full moon rise over the Broadmoor
Hotel in Colorado Springs, where I was entertaining poolside for about
400 auto
dealers from all over the country. Thanks to Mac McCain for hookin' me
up on that one! Saturday was a bit of a slow night at the Pub on Pearl,
but as always, we had fun anyway. I really love that room! I've been playing
there since '97 - some dead nights, some "packed-to-the-elbows"
nights ...
but always some very cool people hanging out there. Looking forward to
my next date - Aug. 23rd.
Had a Match Play golf tournament Sat. & Sun. - early tee times. 3
1/2
hrs. sleep Fri. night, 3 hrs. Sat. My eyelids are just now starting to
feel
normal again ...
This week, I'm back at ANOTHER of my favorite rooms (Ironworks!), this
time (for the first time!) with the band! Although bassist Dwight Thompson
is out of town (Charlie Mertens is stepping in on the upright), flautist
&
singer Roxanne Staples will be joining us again. Should be fun! Wait,
no, not SHOULD - WILL be fun!
But FOIST!:
Wednesday (June 18th) 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (5970 S. Holly, at Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Come have a terrific dinner with excellent service or just sip & graze
in the bar with me! You'll still get excellent service ... :)
Then:
Saturday, June 21, 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.
IRONWORKS BREWERY & PUB (12354 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood,
303-958-5818)
Full band! Great beer! Pool tables!
Next week, I'm going to see John Hyatt on Tuesday, then there's the
VENTURA GRILLE on Weds., and then GREENFIELD'S (Lakewood) on Sunday. Couple
of irons in the fire for Fri-Sat, will let you know ...
6/13/03
Hey everybody - just a quick reminder that I'm playing at the PUB
ON
PEARL (Denver, Pearl St. just N of I-25, 303-777-6768) on SATURDAY NIGHT
(the
14th) from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.
Always a good time!
Next week, I've got my regular Weds. (18th) down at the VENTURA GRILLE,
and then on Sat. (21st), I'll be playing with the band (Confluence Park)
at
Ironworks Brewery & Pub (Lakewood) starting at 9:00 p.m. We will again
be joined by the fabulous flute & voice of Roxanne Staples - don't
miss
it!
6/04/03
Howdy folks! Got back from Wisconsin yesterday & I'm tired but
feeling
really good. Nothing like hanging with "old & golden" friends
... salve for the soul.
TONIGHT:
Weds., June 4, 6 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (Greenwood Vill., in Orchards Shopping Center @ Holly &
Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Back to my regular Weds. nights down south. Alot of you folks have not
yet checked this place out. You should ...
Next week is a busy one: my "same-Bat-time same-Bat-channel"
gig at
the VENTURA GRILL (that'd be Weds. @ 6!), then I've got private corporate
functions on Thurs. & Fri., and then I return to THE PUB ON PEARL
(Wash. Park, Pearl St. just N of I-25) on Saturday (the 14th, 9 p.m.).
Always a fun gig!
I still have some weekend evenings available this summer for private
parties - please contact me if you'd be interested in having me play at
your house!
Hope you all have a geat week - Ciao, baby!
5/21/03
Howdy folks! Late because I'm busy & that's good. Gigs all went
great
last week and the golf was fun, too. I spent an exhausted Monday on errands
and then "nested"all afternoon & evening. Had a rehearsal
Tues. with CONFLUENCE PARK and our newest guest performer, flautist ROXANNE
STAPLES. Forget American Idol, folks, this girl's a star! I met her when
she was a member of Blue Jazz Pie. She's an incredible musician, a great
wit and a free spirit. I'm really pleased that she'll be joining us Friday
night at
THE SEDALIA GRILL and on at least one date in June (IRONWORKS, June
21).
TONIGHT:
Weds., May 21, 6 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (Greenwood Vill., in Orchards Shopping Center @ Holly &
Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Back to my regular Weds. nights down south. Alot of you folks have not
yet checked this place out. You should ...
Fri., May 23, 8:00 p.m.
SEDALIA GRILL (Sedalia, 5607 US Hwy 85, 303-688-1249)
Located 10 or 11 miles south of C-470 on Santa Fe, this will be a
CONFLUENCE PARK Quartet performance featuring the flute, voice and presence
of Roxanne Staples. We'll hopefully be outdoors (fingers crossed for good
weather). This one will be worth the drive!
All I've got next week is my "same-Bat-time same-Bat-channel"
gig at
the VENTURA GRILL (that'd be Weds. @ 6!), then I'm gone for the following
weekend on a jaunt up to Wisconsin's Door County with a bunch of high
school
buds for some golf & biking & beer & beachtime. When I get
back I'll have a sore face & stomach from laughing so much.
By the way, I had a really nice time at the party in Lakewood I played
at this past Sunday. I really enjoy those gigs ...
5/13/03
Howdy folks!
Busy week this week so I'll get right into it:
Weds., May 14, 7 p.m.
ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY (Denver, 16th St. Mall @ Curtis, 303-534-7616)
Band gig! Come check out CONFLUENCE PARK ...
Thurs., May 15, 6 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (Greenwood Vill., in Orchards Shopping Center @ Holly &
Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Was able to swap nights ... doing that "background music for your
dining
experience" thing. Or, you can come in for a laid-back round of drinks
in the bar. We kick it up a bit after 9 pm ...
Fri-Sat., May 16-17, 7:30 p.m.
CARDELLA'S ITALIAN STEAKHOUSE (Aurora, NW corner of Buckley & Quincy,
303-690-5220)
New room for me - please come out & support live music so they'll
book me
back! Haven't played in Aurora in ages ...
Sun., May 18, 4-7 p.m.
PRIVATE HOUSE PARTY (Lakewood)
YOU can have me play at a party at YOUR house, too! Just "reply"
to this
e-mail & we'll discuss the details ...
Next week, I'm back at the Ventura Grille on my regular Weds. night,
and then the band is performing Friday (23rd) down at the SEDALIA GRILL
(on
Santa Fe south of C-470) at 8 p.m. Outdoors if it's nice!
05/07/03
Howdy folks! I'm back from my Southwest road trip & getting back in
the
groove. Digging out from under the laundry pile. Taking the machete
out to the lawn (I gather it rained while I was away?) Cleaning the desert
dust out of the van. Getting some office work done! An e-mail alert is
better late than never, right?
The mini-tour was a tremendous success, both personally &
professionally. I got some very nice feature articles in the press (Lake
Havasu City,
Flagstaff, & Moab) and did a live radio interview in Moab, too. I
sold
buckets of CDs, signed autographs, kissed babies, and added a bunch of
folks
to the mailing list in that region. My downtime in Phoenix & Sedona
was
great fun: played laser tag with my nephews, went on some beautiful hikes
with Kristi & Karma, and played golf at my handicap on a pretty &
challenging course in Sedona. The van is a great road-trip vehicle,
although it did increase my blood pressure a bit when the battery gave
out in Sedona AS I WAS LEAVING for the gig later that day in Moab. I was
a
bit late, but we made it!
And now it's back to work:
TONIGHT:
Wednesday (Apr. 9th) 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
VENTURA GRILLE (5970 S. Holly, at Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Back to my usual Weds. eve haunt ...
Then:
Friday, May 9, 6:30 - 11? 12?
IRONWORKS BREWERY & PUB (12354 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood,
303-958-5818)
NOTE THE TIME CHANGE!
Starting early to accomodate a special Happy Hour gathering. Come out
& join the fun!
Next week, on Weds. I'm back at THE ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY with the band
at 7 pm, and then I'm hoping to swap nights so that I'll be at the VENTURA
GRILLE on Thursday. Friday & Saturday I'm out in Aurora at a new room,
CARDELLA'S ITALIAN STEAKHOUSE (7:30-11:00 pm), and the Sunday I have a
private
party at someone's house in Lakewood.
YOU could have me play at a party at YOUR house, too! Hit "reply"
and
we'll discuss the details.
Have a great week - ciao, baby!
04/15/03

May
9th, so mark your calendars and prime your taste buds for some good beer!
04/09/03
Howdy folks! Sorry for the last-minute e-mail, but my hi-speed access
has been down. Gave up waiting for the repair & now using the dial-up
connection again. Oh well.
TONIGHT:Wednesday (Apr. 9th) 6:00 - 10:00 p.m.
VENTURA GRILL (5970 S. Holly, at Orchard, 720-482-9744)
Back to my usual Weds. eve haunt ...
TOMORROW:Thursday, April 10, 5:30 - 7? 8? 9?

04/01/03
Hey'all - hope the mud season ain't got you spinnin' your wheels ...
just wanted to send out a quick reminder that I'm NOT at the Ventura Grill
this week -- the band is going to be playing at
THE ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY (303-534-7616, 16th St. mall @ Curtis)
Weds. night, April 2 at 7:00 p.m.
Convenient parking underneath the restaurant (in Independence Plaza).
Come early, stay late!
Hope you can make it out ...
3/26/03
Happy Spring everyone! Hope the vernal equinox found you well.
Sorry this is so late, but I figure you've all got this gig just about
imprinted by now (so come & check it out!):
Weds., Mar. 26, 6-10 p.m.
VENTURA GRILL (5970 S. Holly, at Orchard, in Orchards shopping center)
720-482-9744
Call ahead for a res. if you're thinking about dinner - and I'd
definitely think about dinner! Terrific menu, beautiful presentations,
and
excellent service make this a great choice for dining in the 'burbs.
And don't forget that next week (Weds., April 2), the band CONFLUENCE
PARK returns to the Rock Bottom Brewery downtown, starting at 7 p.m.!
Following that I have 2 more weeks at the Ventura Grill before my spring
"mini-tour" hrough AZ & UT.
3/19/03
Hey y'all! Be careful driving out there, and make sure you've had
a
cardiac stress test before you try shoveling that stuff! I don't need
to go to
the Y today after that workout...
Weds., Mar. 12, 6-10 p.m.
VENTURA GRILL (5970 S. Holly, at Orchard, in Orchards shopping center)
720-482-9744
Call ahead for a res. if you're thinking about dinner - and I'd
definitely think about dinner! Terrific menu, beautiful presentations,
and
excellent service make this a great choice for dining in the 'burbs.
Mark your calendars for Weds., April 2, and the return of the band
CONFLUENCE PARK to the Rock Bottom Brewery downtown, starting at 7
p.m.!
3/12/03
Hey everybody! Didn't get an e-mail out last week, but unless you
hear
otherwise, you can count on me for Wednesday nights down in Greenwood

Hey'all!
I'm back from Belize - tan, tired & bug-chewed! The resort was
fabulous, but open to the ocean and the jungle meant open to the mosquitos,
doctor flies, sand fleas & scorpions (yes, I had to kill one in the
room!).
That said, the food was excellent, the diving spectacular (how many shades
of blue can the ocean get?), the countryside unbelievably lush & full
of
wildlife, and the people very warm and welcoming. The country as a
whole is very aware of the value of its environment, and I've come away
with a
renewed sense of the need for protecting our fragile natural resources,
here and around the world. Now, if I'd only stop itching ...
This week, I have my regular solo show on Weds. down in Greenwood
Village, and we've added a Friday appearance as well (filling in for Marc
Ferriera).

Howdy everybody!
First off - get out the eraser. CONFLUENCE PARK's previously scheduled
dates downtown at MATTIE'S HOUSE OF MIRRORS (Thursdays starting Feb.
20th) have been cancelled before they even got started. I won't go into
details - suffice it to say that a signed contract with the owners will
be
necessary before booking further dates. We have several irons in the fire,
though, so stay tuned!
This week, I have my regular solo show down in Greenwood Village,
although the time has changed from a 7 p.m. start to 6:00. Weds., Feb.

Well, Einar John Edfors, my Grandfather, the patriarch of my wonderful family, passed away Friday, January 21. The funeral in Chicago was a rather bittersweet affair: good to be with the extended family (my father and his 6 brothers, along with their families and lots of friends), but also very sad. He went so fast. Again, a sad blessing.
Gary Floris hangin in there, weve got mixdown on "Take Some Time" scheduled for next week. Wish us luck -- and continue sending him those positive waves!
Been a busy couple ofweeks performing, as I said last entry. First appearance at a new venue (The Cuckoos Nest, Lakewood, CO) went rather well, will be back at the end of April. Had to cancel my appearance at Mary Jane last week to go to Chicago, will be back up there in a couple of weeks. Thanks to Brad Huff for covering the gig and to Ann & Arnie Green for setting it up with Brad. Thanks also to the Club Car staff for their understanding.
Spring Road Trips starting to fall into place! Check out the Schedule page for the latest details on the AZ (March) and Midwest (April) Tours.
Only other news is completing my Confined Water and Classroom requirements for my Open Water Diver scuba certification this past weekend. Dave & Skip, the folks at Colorado Scuba Center (Lakewood), were absolutely wonderful in getting me hooked up and ready for my Open Water testing in St. Lucia later in Feb. Wish me luck - blub, blub!

The New Millenium. Heavy sigh.
Sort of a strange, sad start to the year. My 92-year old Grandfather was diagnosed with bone cancer at Christmas-time. Im glad we were able to make a trip to Chicago to see him then. My good friend/drummer/recording engineer Gary Flori did not appear with Mac McCain and I up at Beanos Cabin in Beaver Creek, CO, on New Years Eve as planned; he checked into the hospital that morning for more aggressive treatment of a pesky infection. We were supposed to start final mixdown on the new CD this week -- obviously thats small potatoes to be put on the back burner. Well get going on that project when my man is feeling GOOD! Send out some positive vibes for him -- lets get him back on his feet.
Other than that, Im looking forward to getting back into the swing of performing with 11 shows here in Colorado in the next 17 nights. The Holidays did provide an opportunity to rest my voice and fully recover from the cold I picked up in December. "Stage time" is so precious to me. It will be good to be back in front of an audience.

The first entry. Yee-haw! A couple of things to mention right off: My briefcase was snatched in Las Vegas last month (11/9/99), and one of the things I lost was the notebook for my mailing list. So, anyone who signed up at the Grand Canyon that week prior, or during the month of October, Ive lost your info! Please contact me via e-mail or any of the other options on the "contact" page of this website.
The second big news is that Ive finally finished tracking my new CD "Take Some Time". Now, that doesnt mean its done, just that Ive got all the parts down on tape. Mixdown is scheduled for the first week of January, mastering the week following. At that point, I can consider the project "in the can", but I will still have to finish the photography, jacket layout & design, and get the darn thing pressed & printed & packaged. At least Im finally basking in the light at the end of the tunnel. Lets say Im shooting for a March 1st release...as soon as its mastered, I will put a couple of samples up on this site for you to check out.
Third, Ive started booking my spring road trips: to the Southwest in March and across the Midwest in April. The Schedule page will have details as they become available. In the Southwest, Ill be appearing yet again (twice a year for almost 8 years now!) at the Bright Angel Lodge at Grand Canyon Natl Park, and Ive confirmed dates for a Noon Tunes show at NAU and at the Oak Creek Brewery in Sedona. I hope to add shows in Phoenix, Tucson, Lake Havasu City, Las Vegas, and St. George, UT. For the Midwest run, Im hoping to book dates in Kearney, NE, Lincoln/Omaha; Ames, Des Moines, Dubuque, & Davenport, IA,; Champaign & Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Tulsa & OKC, OK; and Amarillo, TX.
Since this is my first entry Im going to do a bit of reminiscing about the fall road trips:
The trip in September took me through the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma across the Midwest. Sadly, Fenderz in Amarillo is no more. The club closed a couple of weeks before I was scheduled to appear. I will be posting a Fenderz photo from my Spring Tour in the Gallery soon. Luckily for me, my good friends at The Golden Light Cafe came through and gave me another gig to fill the empty date. Borders Books & Music continues to be a terrific supporter of my music, and I played shows in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. I made another appearance at Whiskey River in Dubuque, IA, which I hope will not be my last. They have cut back considerably on the amount of live music theyre featuring (like, to none!) due to pressure from the Licensing companies (ASCAP/BMI). Its unfortunate and ironic that companies created to earn more money for artists actually end up putting artists out of work. After Dubuque I returned to my Alma Mater for a show in Champaign, IL at The City Of New Orleans, and then up to the Chicago area for a hometown show at OTrainas in Wauconda. After a few days off to visit with family and old friends I headed back west for 2 shows in Des Moines, IA: Java Joes and The Court Ave. Brewing Co. Rumor has it the CABC is not doing live music anymore either. I guess Ill find out for sure when I try booking my spring trip through ... On my way to Des Moines from Chicago I spent a night in the Quad Cities digging for work, and I think Ive got a couple of good leads. Hopefully Ill be performing there this spring!
The highlight of my fall touring season was when I performed at The Virtues of Coffee in Livermore, CA, Oct. 22 - 23. It was my first-ever appearance in the Bay area. I met the owners, Glen & Kristy Virtue, at Yellowstone Natl Park when I was performing there this past summer. Their gracious hospitality puts this venue at the top of my "Want To Go Back To" list! Hopefully well be able to arrange another visit later this spring or summer ...
My last trip of the fall was the semi-annual Southwest tour, with another appearance at the Bright Angel Lodge at Grand Canyon Natl Park, where I always seem to meet the most wonderful people. I hope those I met this last trip log onto this site and see the note about my lost briefcase and get in touch with me ... From the Canyon I traveled up to Las Vegas for my first appearance in the Entertainment Capitol of the World at a small venue off the strip called Hangn Loose. Had a blast! Get well wishes go out to Tony, one of the owners... Following that I had a last-minute engagement at Casino Arizona in Scottsdale (thank you, Mike Moloney Entertainment!), which altered my travel route. Sorry I wasnt able to give notice, Phoenix! See you in the spring...
